Tam O’Shanter Hosts FCA Golf Clinic!
This past Saturday, fifteen youngsters with autism from The Family Center For Autism (thefamilycenterforautism.org) (Garden City) were treated to a golf clinic hosted by the PGA Pros on staff at Tam O’Shanter Country Club in Brookville. Tam O’Shanter’s golf staff led by Mark Brown and Anthony Cancro were enthusiastic in volunteering their time and talent to make this inaugural occasion a success. According to Michael Just, a Tam O’Shanter member and the chairman of a fundraiser tournament “T Off 4 Autism”, being held there on Thursday, July 14th: “Based on how this first event was so well-received, we are hoping to get official designation from the Ernie Els Foundation, which promotes golf for people with autism, throughout the nation. (Ernie Els, one of the world’s most prominent golfers has a son with autism and has made advocacy for people with autism his mantra.)
Lending a hand on golf instruction were: Michael Rine, Nick Patti, Josh Rackley, and Jon Eichner. New York Islanders star Casey Cizikas also dropped by to encourage the beginning golfers. Tam board member Jonathan Stone together with Carl O’Boyle, Tam’s GM made sure there were plenty of snacks and beverages, Tam hospitality. According to Tina Moreno, from The Family Center For Autism: “Our goal is to put together another golf activity before the 2016 golf season ends—because it did make a very positive impact on the autistic young people who participated.”
